| ELNEC CURRICULUM
The ELNEC curriculum has been developed
to prepare qualified nurse educators to provide end-of-life education
for nursing students and practicing nurses, and to provide resources
to facilitate that instruction. The ELNEC Curriculum was developed by
the End of Life Nursing Education Consortium, and like EPEC is set up
to be easily accredited through application to the Texas Nurses
Association or nursing education accrediting body. Each module
provides learning objectives and information necessary for CME
application. As with EPEC, ELNEC can be a monthly meeting, but there
is some risk attached. In order for nurses to receive certification as
ELNEC trained, they must attend all nine modules. As schedule
conflicts are more likely to arise with this format, it would be very
difficult for all who start the program to attend all nine sessions
when offering these modules over time. However, each module can be
accredited separately so that CNEs can be earned for each module
completed. See Attachment C for a description of the curriculum.
Cost - Facilities and equipment are generally provided at no cost by
the host(s). All of our speakers receive a nominal honorarium plus
travel expenses, if any. There is also the cost of food to be
considered if offered in a two-day or monthly lunch format.
Additionally, reproduction of training materials is a significant
cost. When holding a two-day training, cost is approximately $125 for
each participant to include training materials, snacks and two meals
with a desired group size of 50-60. This training is lower cost than
EPEC as all sessions are large group.
